Post subject: COM port redirection query

I have an application that requires multiple users to access a pool of devices serially. At my application server, there will be a number of COM ports created (these are actually virtual ports that are redirected to remote systems, but they appear to the OS as say COM 3 - COM18.

What I need is for individual clients, connected to the server using Citrix or RDP, to be presented with a consistent COM port (eg COM2). ie I need to redirect COM 2 in a users private environment to a free COM port at the OS level.

I understand how I can redirect COM2 back to the client machine. Any thoughts on how to redirect this to a different COM port on the server?

TIA
