Post subject: User's IE Proxy Settings get Overridden by Administrator's

Hi there

On our Win2K3 Terminal Server, if the administrator's Proxy Server settings for Internet Explorer change, then all current and future user's Proxy Settings also get changed - and the users can't change them back...

It looks like the user's Proxy Settings are linked in the registry to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings rather than HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings

Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening please?

Thanks in advance
Paul

Sounds like you have a GPO linked to the OU which contains your TS, with the following setting:

Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Internet Explorer
"Make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per-user)"

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! Very Happy

No idea how that GPO setting slipped in there! Must have seemed like a good idea at the time... Confused

Many thanks!
