Post subject: Unable to Remote Control TS Sessions

Hello everyone,

I have recently finished configuring and testing our first TS, the only problem I have, is even though everywhere I look in permissions/accesses I have Remote Control enabled for the Term Server sessions, whenever I start my own session as admin and go into management console, right click on the user and click remote control it says I do not have permission to remote control the client. When I go into Terminal Services Configuration, right click on the RDP-tcp properties and hit the remote control tab, everything is greyed out.

What have I done wrong? I need to be able to remote control the client sessions if something the user does goes astray...

All help VERY much appreciated!

A setting which is greyed out in Terminal Services Configuration (or any other GUI for that matter) means that the setting is enforced through a Group Policy.

Check which GPOs are applied to your TS with RSoP (Resultant Set of Policies) or gpresult. You'll find the setting here:

Computer Configuration - Administrative templates - Windows Components - Terminal Services
"Sets rules for remote control of Terminal Services user sessions"

That was it! I can't belive I missed something that simple. It was already enabled in the domain GPO, but someone had set it to "No Remote Control". Changed it to what I needed it to be and viola!

Thank you very much!
