Post subject: Print settings not saving

I have a printing issue. Here we go:

Scenario
I have external clients using RDP to connect to TS on a Windows Server 2003 box. Printer redirection is enabled and the external clients need to print to their local printers. Print drivers at both ends match and therefore fallback printers are not in use.

Problem
I want to change some print resolution settings. I can change them on the server but when the client logs out and back in the changes are lost. How can I ensure any changes I make to the printer settings are saved?

Additional Information
If I RDP onto the server within my network and make changes to the server print settings they are saved correctly.

When I make changes to server print settings within my network the bcache22.bmc file on the client PC is updated almost instantly.

When I make changes to the server print settings for an external client PC the bcache22.bmc is not updated at all.

The bcache22.bmc file has been deleted on an external PC and a fresh TS session has been starting which created a new bcache22.bmc file. Still no change.

I have tried to make the changes and then changing something else on another tab rather than the device settings tab as per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/243942 . Still no joy.

Printer is Brother HL 5250DN Series.

Any suggestions?
