Overview

I’m currently having an issue with my citrix presentation server 4.5.

Users access outlook web access through the citrix portal (https). I have a front end OWA and 25 backend OWA exchange servers. Citrix and Exchange run on Win2k3 SP1.

Clients use IE 6 and 7

Issue

Users have complaining citrix portal is crashing when trying to compile an email. I have been able to replicate the issue. I have found that if you compile an email and send it within 1-2 minutes, it will work.

I have found if you leave the compile new email window open for 3 minutes or more (While idle), and you click send email, the toolbar grays out and you are unable to do any further work. You are forced to shut the compile new email window down.

From there, you are unable to view any folders within OWA or even compile new emails. You are forced to shut down the citrix portal and log back in (but the same issue occurs).

It seems this issue is only happening when using OWA within the citrix environment. I have confirmed that if you only use the front-end OWA and backend OWA it all works fine, even if a session is idle for more than 3 minutes.

Any help would be great. I don’t know if its an IE issue, OWA issue, or citrix issue.
