We will be using Embedded XP units to run a single Visual Basic app from a Windows 2000 Terminal Server. We already have several tablets running on this application, but all of them use either Windows 2000 or Windows CE to access the Terminal Server. The DLI units are the first with XP.
So far, I have successfully connected the units to our server and run the application, but I have to log on to the terminal server manually, using a keyboard attached to the unit. This will not work on the floor as the DLI units will not have keyboards attached.
My other manufacturer's units have allowed me to set up a Remote Desktop Connection for automatic logon, and then start my application automatically. But, try as I might, I cannot get these units to allow me to set up automatic logon of the RDC session. The dialog boxes controlling the selection of username, password and domain on the General tab are permanently grayed out.
I have tried setting the RDC session up as domain admin, local admin, as a user with full domain privileges....nothing. I have gone into Group Policy using MMC and confirmed that the local computer policy has Always Prompt Client for Password set to Disabled.
Is there something new in Embedded XP that prevents automatic RDC sessions? There's not much about this on my usual MS sites...
