Hello All and Happy Leap Day, Happy Friday and all that fun jazz.
Now, I hope someone can help out here.
Current Setup:
Win2003 Active Directory
Win2003 Serv with TS (1 will go 2 soon)
Using 2X ApplicationServer
End Users - Mixed Win2K, XP, & Vista (vista is basically IT ppl)
Problem
I need to find a way, on the server to which I can block the redirection of network drives.
I know, if we were using straight MS RDC Client I could create a *.rdp file and have everyone use that in order to pick and choose which drives to direct to the TS session; however, we are not using the RDC client. I need to have the end user local C: drive redirected; yet, I for some reason cannot have the rest (for some reason means that the end users complain (yap yap yap blah blah woof woof)). Users enter the system from both, outside of the LAN and already on the LAN. It is the people that already have network drives mapped on their local system that I am most concerned about. My logon script of course maps the normal network drives, and also maps the \\TSCLIENT\C to a drive letter.
If I block the ability for drive redirection, then of course I cannot have the logon script map to the \\TSCLIENT\C as it is no longer available. I have tried to change the logon script to map to \\%CLIENTNAME%\C$; however, then the users connecting from home computers (sheesh I hate that but...) cannot access the local C: drive as their AD credentials do not have permission to access the drive.
I know there is a way to do this, as the MS RDC client allows the selection of the drives; however, I cannot figure out how it enters it into the registry. Also, I know Propalms TSE allows you to block all network drive redirection and I also cannot figure out how that software does that either.
Any ideas/help would be very appreciated!
Thanks and Have a Great Weekend All
