Post subject: Common user profiles under TS

We are trying to setup a Windows 2003 terminal server so that when users logon, there are certain settings that are common between users.
The users are using a MS Access program that has heaps of settings that need to normally be setup for each user that is created. What we want is to set them up once and then when we create another user on the server, the settings are already done for them.
Secondly, if the administrator goes and changes a setting that affects the MS Access program, the change is effective immediately for all users. In other words, do the change once, not 20 times for 20 TS users.
Some of these changes are things like changing the security sensitivity to macros in Access. Instead of doing it in Access in all the user sessions, we do it once and it is done for all users, including new future users.

Cheers

Mark

Your first requirement is met by modifying the Default User profile on the Terminal Server, as this is the template from which all new user profiles are created.
Create a new user account, let' s call it Template_user, log in with that account, modify all settings, log off. Then log on as Administrator and copy the newly created profile over the Default User profile (keep a copy of the original profile for safety reasons).

If you need to make changes later, inplement them again in the Default User account for new users. While doing so, use a tool like RegShot to monitor all changes that you make to the registry. Then export the registry keys that you have changed and incorporate them in existing user profiles with a login script.
