Post subject: Terminal Server 2008 user profile problem.

Hi, I'm having difficulties setting up terminal server profiles for users. I have followed the guidelines for making TS profiles for server 2003 but it doesn't seem to work with 2008 for whatever reason. (I have looked for a guide for TS 2008 but can't find one anywhere!) Here's what I have done

1. Create local account (to create a profile)
2. Copy that profile to another location
3. Delete the local user account that I created.
4. In user properties in AD I specify the path to the profile

First when the user logs on i get errors 1521 and 1530. These were related to permissions. So I relaxed all share and NTFS permissions for the profile.

When user logs on again, I get no errors, but it creates a profile for that user instead of using the profile i specified.

What I'm trying to do is to get a group of TS users to use the same profile so I can deliver a standard desktop etc...

Any suggestions?

Thanks

User profile design has changed with Vista and Windows 2008. You cannot mix 2003 and 2008 profiles.
Here's information about the new Version 2 user profiles and how to migrate from Version 1 (XP, 2003) profiles to Version 2 profiles:

Im not actually trying to use a 2003 profile with 2008. The users I have created in 2003 AD will only ever log onto the 2008 terminal server. Their user profiles are getting created in server 2008 ok, but thats not what I'm trying to acheive. I want them to use the profile I specify in the Terminal Server Profile Path tab in user properties in AD. At the moment, even if I specify a profile, it just ignores it and goes and creates a 2008 profile based on the name of the user.

Thanks
