Post subject: Terminal Server newbie

I'm new to supporting Windows terminal servers, but of course I need this up and running by the end of this month.

we purchase 2 servers to act as redundant terminal servers.
My boss is expecting that if one goes down, the other will service all the requests. I'm just starting to read about the load balancing features and all of that.

I also need to ensure all data from the client to server, server to client is encrypted. I work for a hospital.

We'll be using windows 2003 enterprise edition on both servers.

Any guidance on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You can take a look at these couple of links. However, I do not have to work with the HIPAA act so....

The best I can do is really give ya a starting point.

Even with encryption set to 'Low' the username and password is encrypted during login. If the application on the server isn't protected by SSL or any other on the wire encryption you can raise the level of encryption on the 'General' tab of the default connection in 'Terminal Services Configuration'.
Most likely you'll need to implement NLB for the fail-over setup you're trying to accomplish.
