Post subject: RDP Client disconnects

We have
2 Windows 2003 SP2 Terminal Servers
RDP 6.0 clients with Reconnect checkbox on

When they connect to our new TS1, if they are idle for a minute or so (switching back and forth between desktop and TS session), they will be disconnected and the attempts to reconnect are not successful, so they have to logon again.

However, if they connect to our older TS2, this disconnect does not happen. From the same network, from the same machine - the only difference is the Terminal Server they are connecting to. User volume doesn't seem to matter because it happens during low volume user activity also (to the WAN users)

Group Policy is being applied to both TS's in the same way according to the RSOP

The NIC card properties are identical, except for power management
Is there any TCP tuning that I could check?
KeepAlive settings differnet on the two different servers?

Help
Thanks

More detailed info
Windows 2003 SP2 Terminal Server

RDP Clients - 6.0.6001 - Reconnection checkbox = ON

During a RDP session with the client's TerminalServer1 - the user bounces back and forth between their desktop and the terminal server

When switching back into the RDP session from the desktop, the Autoreconnect behaviour is stalled - so to the user it appears hung... but if the user waits 30 secs.. then the reconnect countdown starts 1 - 20 and on the 2 or 3rd count usually reconnects.

The strange thing is that it only happens on one of our identical terminal servers and they are both getting the same Group policies.

What could be different on the one terminal server (TS1) that could cause this kind of hung appearance before the reconnect starts? TCP tuning?

NOTE: one of the differences I just discovered was the version of the RDP Client installed on the Terminal Server itself. Can the RDP Client version affect the Terminal Services RDP 5.2 listener - i.e. .dll's, etc.?

TS1 (wait to reconnect problem server) has RDP Client Version Shell Version 6.0 Build 6000

TS2 (no problem reconnecting) has RDP Client Shell Version 5.2 Build 3790

The NIC card, drivers and properties are identical.

The only visible difference in the RDP configuration is Override User Settings is checked on the problem TS, but won't change if you try to uncheck it like the other non-problem TS2.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks alot,

Allison
