Post subject: Increased network traffic with Wyse S10
Archived from groups: alt>os>citrix (more info?)

I've sent this message to a Wyse forum but will also take a chance here
if anybody could sheed some light perhaps.

Hi!

I ditched some old PC's with Citrix clients on them and installed Wyse
S10 on two of my remote sites. Since that day the network traffic
increased considerably. We utilise over 90% of the line now and the
users complain about the slow speed.

The S10 machines get IP address from a DHCP server over the WAN. They
also get wnos.ini via FTP over the WAN. But when that is done shouldn't
they be "quiet" then?

I also noticed that the DHCP request takes some time to process.

Perhaps I could do a test without DHCP and FTP and see how that would
work.

The recommendation from the network team was to upgrade the line speed.

Is there someone here that could explain to me what is going on. I went
to the sites with the intention to give the users a better experience.
But it got worse than before.

Thank you for any input.

Regards, Kjell
