Post subject: Fresh install of NT4 TS w/ IE4 Desktop Update?

Hi All,

I've been tasked with rebuilding an old NT4 TS. As the original builder is A.W.O.L. and I know more about NT than the rest of the crew.

I'm having trouble getting the "Desktop Update" (Active Desktop) from IE4 installed "properly".

I am setting the user session mode to install, and I am running the Application Compatibility Script (MSIE40.cmd) before rebooting. However, EVERYtime I reboot after installing the new desktop, explorer.exe just painfully crawls. I am running as an admin while installing and once rebooting.

If I install just the IE4 browser (any version), things run fine. I only have SP6 for TS, I have tried running the Desktop Update w/ the original SP3 and after applying SP6...same results.

Now, I'm trying to remember if I ever saw an NT4 TS WITH the Desktop Update. There is a Technet or KB article at MS.com that says to NOT install the IE4 that prompts you during the actual TS installation. But I've just not found any info making mention of special instructions for the Desktop Update on NT4 TS. Nor for that matter anything that says NOT to install the Desktop Update.

If anyone knows of NT4 TS still running...or this problem...Please Help!

thanks

Ahh Thank you Vera! Plain and simple. ASSUMING that it
was supported...I thought there was a trick to the install.
I'm printing that MS KB out and taping it to my forehead!

Shocked
