Post subject: Accessing application from TS session desktop

I am running TS 2003

What is the best way to run a single application on TS when the application is actually being hosted on a different physical application server? I was just going to have a shortcut (which is linked to the application on the application server)on the desktop of each user that log into a TS desktop session and have the users click on the shortcut like they would a shortcut on their local desktop. Is this good practice, or should I set the single application access in a different way?

Assuming that the application van be run from a file server, yes, this is the easiest way to do it.
If the application was installed on the TS itself, you could also define it as a starting application in a GPO (meaning that the users never see the full desktop), but I don't think that that an UNC path like \\fileserver\share\my_app.exe is allowed when defining a starting application.

So if the application is installed on the TS server itself, the user would be able to run the application within a window within their original desktop (like a regular local application)? So this setup would be more like the 2008 version of RemoteApp, correct?

With regards to TSS 2003, is it totally impossible to run the application in a regular window (without TS dekstop) when the application access is located on a seperate server from the TS?

Well, it's not exactly like RemoteApps on 2008 (the application itself doesn't appear in the client's taskbar), but it comes close.
But as I said, I don't think that a UNCpath is acceptable.
There are a number of 3rd party utilities, some freeware, which do this, like Remote Application Center For Terminal Server

Thanks Vera_noest for the reply and the link to the Remote application Center for Terminal Server freeware. I think application is exactly what I need to allow only a single application access and prevent access to any other aspect of the TS session.

I know that my TS server hardware is capable; however, is there a limit to how many Remote Application Center for TS sessions that can be run on the TS server? At the most, I would have as many as 40-50 concurrent TS client sessions accessing a sinlge application at any given time?
